Boba Bakes Cafe sits comfortably on Cambridge Street as a multi-faceted spot merging the familiar coziness of a café with the lively flavors of a Chinese bakery and bubble tea bar. It’s the kind of place that invites a casual stop whether you’re after a quick pick-me-up or a relaxed sit-down, blending influences from Hong Kong-style cha chaan teng culture with a distinctly Glasgow neighborhood vibe.

The atmosphere inside leans towards friendly and unpretentious, with staff who take genuine care to guide newcomers through a menu rich in variety—ranging from dumplings and stir-fried noodles to indulgent desserts like matcha crepe cake and Dubai’s pistachio chocolate cake. Locals and visitors alike appreciate the balanced sweetness of their bubble teas, where classics like Tiger Sugar milk tea share shelf space with innovative cheese foam blends and fruity boba sodas. This mix of comforting meal options and playful drinks makes it popular both for a casual lunch and for those afternoon dessert cravings.

While Boba Bakes caters well to takeaway visitors, it also creates a welcoming environment for lingering over your food. The café’s clean, tidy interior offers enough space to unwind, often attracting students or friends catching up after work. The staff’s attentiveness, sometimes led by the owner, adds a warm, personal touch that makes the place feel more like a local favorite than a chain.

Best times to visit tend to be midday or early afternoon when the café buzzes with a steady flow of customers popping in for bubble tea and snacks. If you’re new to East Asian desserts or boba drinks, the team’s advice and enthusiasm help ease exploration, making it a relaxed spot for trying out unfamiliar flavors without pressure.

For anyone drawn to layered, fluffy cakes or if you find comfort in a bowl of hot and sour soup or a portion of fried chicken noodles, Boba Bakes offers a varied menu that suits solitary visits and groups alike. It’s a place that feels simultaneously rooted in the local Glasgow community and open to the vibrant Asian culinary threads weaving through the city’s dining scene.

We had to drive from Aberdeen for hospital appointment in Glasgow, I’ve seen TikTok about this place and straight away I knew I had to visit. We loved it! Food was fresh and very tasty, bubble tea stole our hearts and desserts were lovely. Staff was extremely attentive and very nice. Lady which was looking after us (I believe she was the owner) made us feel very special. After we left my son said - wow mommy, what a lovely people we will definitely come back Big thanks to each member of staff

fave east asian local bakery, best fluffiest cloud-like cakes, almost made me cry espesh the shirakawa air cake I happened across 1 day as their cake selection never fails to surprise me with something else new to try as I usually love to get only flavours I've never tried before but come regularly just to see & cheer up after a long studying day round corner & so lucky to have near my living place too. Thank you for your kind gestures out of the blue I really did not expect just from my quick takeaways. Would love to sit in one day to try your savoury food too as people seem to enjoy, even warm surprise bday service too I walked in on 1 day as well. Much love <3 I hope it continues like this as a rare gem.

If you're ever in Glasgow, you should definitely check out Boba Cakes Cafe! The staff there is super friendly and welcoming; they really take their time to help each customer. They even offered to watch our luggage for several hours. The desserts we ordered were absolutely delicious, not overly sweet. In my opinion, the prices are fair and make it a worthwhile visit!

I really like this cake shop. The staff here are very friendly and welcoming, especially they are very cute and humorous. The shop looks very clean and tidy, the space is very suitable for everyone to eat and relax. The service is very fast and enthusiastic. The food here is very delicious, everyone should try it. The price here is very reasonable, it is very cheap. They even left a cute note on our cake package. In short, this cake shop is worth the experience. I highly recommend the food here. Of course, if I have the chance, I will come back soon

Had a fabulous time at Boba Cafe today. The food from the lunch was really tasty. The staff and owner were very welcoming and attentive. They were happy to provide advice for us on our first foray into the Asian desserts and Boba drinks. I would thoroughly recommend you try out Boba Cafe for a sit in meal or even for a takeaway. We will be back soon.

My original review when I visited the first time seems to have disappeared! This was my second visit today (wanted to show another friend the cakes) Very clean, modern and cosy place to sit in. The staff both times have been lovely and attentive. One of them very kindly ran out with my order I bought for my fiancé that I somehow forgot to take when leaving the shop!! (Was too busy eyeing the menu options for next time at the window haha) What I love about these cakes is that they are the right level of sweetness and not sickly at all. It's good ingredients and not got any junk in them. Freshly made which shows and a good price for it being in the city centre and home made. I would have taken better pictures but my fiancé ate them so I only have the quick pic I sent him (I've uploaded old photos from my last visit) I've currently messaged them to get a birthday cake ordered for a few months time so will update this review if they are available for it and give feedback on this with a picture! Update: May 2025 So as promised, this part is to review the celebration cakes! They sent a file with hundreds of cake styles to choose from. I paid upfront through Instagram after discussing details. I visited today to collect the cake and wow it looked amazing! Beautifully packaged, they even added a little '40' for me and sat a candle with a little happy birthday tiara on top which was a lovely little extra! The better half loved the birthday cake and said it was delicious. Lovely and light just like their cake pop tubs! I picked the 6" size, you could easily cut 14 small slices or about 7 generous slices. They advised me that it would need to be eaten within 3 days as it's fresh cream used. I asked how much notice they need to make cakes (as a work colleague was interested) and they said usually 2-3 days. People might say it's cheaper to buy a cake in store, but then you don't get a freshly made bespoke cake from a lovely little business. My fiancé will definitely want his future birthday cakes from here now haha! Thank you Boba Bakes for making this special! :)

Great cafe in the city of Glasgow! You can get a lot under one roof, it's a cafe, it's a bubble tea shop, it's a cake shop, you can get celebration cakes here, it's a Chinese restaurant, and it's a hot pot restaurant too! Despite this, everything is delivered at a high level. This has quickly became the go to place for the asian community to get their birthday cakes now (not too sweet!) See our full video review on our experience under The Olive Tree Family on all social media platforms.

They have an extremely friendly staff, and the food was awesome. The chicken gyoza were so delicious—probably the best dumplings I've ever had. The rice with chicken was also good, and the portion was so big I couldn't even finish it! I'm not a fan of sweet stuff, but I also ordered the matcha crepe cake and was very happy that it wasn't cloying.
